So, what should I write?

So, I've created this blog, thinking that I have a lot to say, but here I sit trying to think of something. Tonight I went to a local writers group for the first time; you see, I fancy myself as a writer. I think I can write. I haven't written much though, just a novel that I've half ways finished and has been kicking around with me for about ten years, a couple of short stories, and some bits and pieces here and there. But I love expressing myself with words; I love the rhythm of them, and how it feels to make them do my bidding. So, I want to be a writer, and I figure, hey, the best way to do that is start acting like one, right?

  1. Must be easier to add the your comment to the post when you have only one picture. I like how this posting looks as well as the picture. How does a writer act, I have an idea of how they look but not act.

  2. It's like writing a story; you imagine what the character of the writer would be like? 'How do I see myself as a writer; how would I behave, what would I do?' And then, you just do it, instead of waiting around for someone else to tell you that you are one, that you've achieved that status. ... One thing for certain, you have to write something. :)
Btw, do I look like a writer? ;)

  3. Ha! Do you look like a writer? You don't look like Agatha Christie or Stephen King, so I suppose you just look like Dar.
I write because I feel the need to; not for anyone else but myself. If other people like it, that's the icing on the cake, and gives me a good feeling. I imagine a scenario: Could be a man sitting on a beach. Someone walks up and shoots him. There's the book.....Who was he? Why was he shot? Who shot him? I answer all the many questions and have a story. The main thing is, it's fun. If it wasn't, I'd leave it well alone. Happy wordsmithing. Mike (Wildthing)

  4. Hey Dar, I decided to go back to the beginning and read through. I think the key to being a writer is to just write! Something I am trying to do, as well. :)
