Today I looked in the mirror and I saw
a child, full of joy and laughter
feeling as free as the wind
as she rides her bicycle with abandon
down the steep hill
Today I looked in the mirror and I saw
a young woman, full of hopes and dreams
bursting with enthusiasm
overjoyed by the possibilities
of the life unfolding before her eyes
Today I looked in the mirror and I saw
a strong woman, full of courage and resolve
determined to live her life
in accordance with the values and principles
that she alone has defined
Today I looked in the mirror
and for the first time in a long time
I saw me
Me liking this reflective positive vibes poem post m'dear. Glad life islooking good for you. I tend to avoid mirrors until at least mid morning ;-)
ReplyDeleteBTW TF has shelfed her photo blog for a new improved not tested on animals "Poetry Blog with images" When I say poetry I mean TF takes on poetry! TFx
I really like this. Simple but effective.
ReplyDeleteI'm with TF on avoiding mirrors though!
Great words and feelings...Brilliant.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes wish I had looked in the mirror earlier Haaa.
Thanks TF. :) ... I think it must be more difficult to write a positive poem; so much of what I have read is brooding. Also, I'm not sure if what I do can be considered as poetry, but it works for me. :)
ReplyDeleteAbout avoiding mirrors, I found that if you see yourself at your worst, you that much more pleased with yourself when you are all spiffied up. ... Ah, that's what the poetry talk on your blog was all about; I'll have to check it out. :)
Thank you Helen. :) I always try to say something as simply as I can. Maybe that isn't poetry, but the resulting impression is more what I am after with anything I write.
Thanks Blu. :) ... I did look in the mirror earlier, and I didn't see anything reflected back unless it was reflected off of someone else. One is never too old to grow, I think. :)
This is a woman happy in her skin, content with her life and full of 'I'm gonna do the best I can'. Just lovely.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, it is poetry and it works for me too:-) x
Thank you Lane! :) I like your description of the poem a lot.... Huh, imagine that! :)
ReplyDeleteI like this positive side of you.
ReplyDeletestrange.. because today I was trying to avoid myself in the mirror.. I knew I wasn't going to like what I encountered... but maybe.. tomorrow...
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of POGO... (GRIN) I like this positive side of me too. :)
ReplyDeleteHmmmm, thinking you need some positive reinforcement reflected back in your direction Leftie. Because I can't believe you wouldn't like what you'd see.
Mirrors of your soul etc... Great poem, but apart from brushing my hair and putting my earrings in I avoid them too lol
